Repair Prices
In general, all repair prices are quoted upon actual inspection of the instrument. There are many types of repair, maintenance and set-ups that can be accomplished on most musical instruments to help them perform at their optimal level. Variables such as the skill level of the musician and the quality and condition of the instrument dictates the level and cost of repair an instrument may require. Listed below are some general prices on commonly needed repair, set-up and maintenance procedures for acoustic and electric guitars and other stringed musical instruments.
1. General set-up includes:
- re-string
- adjust neck if necessary
- adjust action at nut or bridge if necessary
- tighten and lubricate tuning machines if appropriate
- clean and oil fingerboard
- clean and lubricate electronics and adjust if necessary or requested.
Price range: $35 – $70
2. Fret level and re-crown (generally done in conjunction with a set-up):
- If the frets are worn or not level, a fret level and re-crown will refurbish the playing surface offering better feel, articulation and intonation.
Price range: $80 – $125
3. Complete Fret Job:
- Required when either the frets and/or fingerboard are worn to a point where there is significant buzzing or loss of clarity and difficulties keeping the instrument in tune. This job is generally done along with a complete set-up of the instrument.
Price range: $200 – $275
4. Re-glue bridge (for acoustic guitars):
- includes removal of bridge, resurfacing, refitting and re-gluing the bridge to the soundboard. Often done in conjunction with a general set-up.
Price range: $45 – $90
5. New nut (for acoustic and electric guitars):
- bone, ivory, tusq or graphite.
Often done in conjunction with a general set-up.
Price range: $35 – $100
6. New saddle (compensated or straight):
- bone, ivory, tusq or graphite.
Often done in conjunction with a general set-up.
Price range: $35 – $75
7. Pick-up installations (compensated or straight):
- Prices vary depending on cost of parts and type of installation. All types available. Quotes available upon request.
8. Cracks
- Quotes available upon inspection of instrument.
